Our Favourite Things: Our Bungalow
by Real Estate Sales Representative Nicole Slade
Over the last few months The Kate Broddick Team has been chatting about what we love about the places we live, and what makes them feel like “home”. A few months ago my family and I moved into our house and we are still changing, rearranging, and redecorating to make it feel like ours. It’s a very different home than what we were previously in and so this has been a bit of a challenge!
I think what I absolutely love about this home is that it’s a bungalow with an open concept layout. This is what really made me fall in love with this property. The kitchen and the living room flow into one another which is perfect for both entertaining and our day-to-day living. We’ve got three little ones and it’s so great to keep an eye on them from wherever I’m working. Plus, we have a formal dining room which is such a treat! All of us can gather around for dinner together every night. With large windows in every room, the natural light makes the home warm and cozy in every season! This bungalow just screams “FAMILY FRIENDLY” from every angle!
One of my favourite parts of this house is the mudroom off the garage. Anyone who has children knows they accumulate a lot of stuff. Like, A LOT of stuff! So having the mudroom helps organize my day just a little bit more. Everyone has a spot for their bags, coats and shoes, and nobody is tripping over each other when getting ready to leave. It really makes getting out the door to work and school quick, easy and organized! Plus, it’s a great out-of-the-way spot for mucky boots and snowy mitts where cleanup is a breeze. There’s a reason it’s called a Mud Room when you’ve got little kids!
Even with all of those great features of this bungalow, I think my very favourite thing is the LOCATION! I truly believe that you can always change the house but you can’t change the location. And this property was perfect for our busy family. Directly behind our house is a beautiful, large golf course and even a playground perfectly suited for someone with three young children! When you’re shopping for a home, you really have to consider the area. Even if the home is a little rough, that can always be fixed if the neighbourhood is right. So have a drive around the streets surrounding your potential purchase – you might convince yourself that a little elbow-grease is worth it!
Our home is my very favourite place to be. It’s loud, chaotic and crazy sometimes, but this house felt like home the moment we first stepped into it. I love the small touches we have and will continue to put into it. From our DIY decor, our “seen better days” furniture, and even the red crayon on the back of the closet door – it’s ours!
